PROBADOR COLECTIVA

Probador Colectiva is a project focusing solely on specialty coffee production and education in international norms. The creator of the project is Cagatay Gulabioglu – who blazed a trail in specialty coffee sector and is the founder of first specialty coffee shop called Kronotrop in Turkey. Mr. Gulabioglu is authorized SCA trainer (AST) and Q grader which both are globally accepted quality and trainer certifications. Besides Mr. Gulabioglu is 2015-2017 SCA Turkey Roasting Champion and has participated in World Coffee Roasting Championships.

Probador Colectiva aims to contribute to specialty coffee sector in Turkey -  which has gained pace in recent years but still has more room to be developed and many gaps to be filled – by doing ethical trade, enabling good agricultural green/roasted coffees to be accessible by everyone and providing coffee education/consultancy.

Our Story

SPECIALTY COFFEE

Probador Colectiva sources and imports specialty coffee green beans from pioneering US and EU specialty coffee firms which have direct trade models and various contacts to buy greens directly from farmers. Therefore, Probador Colectiva only uses coffees that can be described as specialty in the global coffee literature, meet the specialty coffee criteria’s - which are scored by Q graders and gained high scores- and ethical-traceable trade products. 

Specialty coffee broadly can be described as coffees which scores at least 80 points over 100 by Q graders, have terroir specifics such as soil and altitude as well as producer, crop and process information. Unlike “C” market commercial coffees, specialty coffees are sourced by developing direct relations with producers and paying much higher prices than the coffees at coffee exchange markets.   

Besides roasting from the sound green portfolio under Probador Colectiva brand, green beans are also supplied to small and big scaled roasteries as well as to coffee enthusiasts who want to roast at home for their own individual need. 

Accordingly, for more than 2 years Probador Colectiva has partnered with US Café Imports –  globally recognized and one of the pioneering specialty coffee suppliers of the world - and is the sole distributor of Café Imports coffees in Turkey and in some parts of the region.   

ROASTERY

Probador Colectiva is equipped with pioneering roasting machines of the world. Coffees are roasted fresh every week and offered to home users through online – sale and coffee shops.        

Coffee is a sensitive product therefore needs to be kept at nominal moisture and temperature values. Therefore at Probador Colectiva green beans are kept at an air conditioned warehouse which meet the optimal storage conditions. 

According to Probador Colectiva’s philosophy, coffees are roasted freshly every week and packaged. Determination of sending only whole bean (not ground) is the continuation of this philosophy. In pursuit of roasting, Probador Colectiva assures freshness of coffees by using the correct filling and packaging factors.

E-COMMERCE

Along with coffee shops, Probador Colectiva’s target markets are business world professionals and amateurs who are enthusiastic about learning more about coffee - broadly speaking office and home consumers. In this manner, user friendly e-commerce infrastructure has been developed. Besides coffees, coffee brewing equipment, grinders, various accessories and coffee brewing tips for home users can be found at the internet site. For wholesale customers who prefer to use Probador Colectiva coffee at their shops, the opportunity of ordering and paying by credit card through the site has been provided.   

EDUCATION & COFFEE LAB

Probador Colectiva is the first and sole SCA authorized coffee lab and SCA Premium Training Campus in Turkey. SCA accreditated trainers and internationally recognised coffee professionals  are invited to provide trainings at this premises regarding such as barista, roasting, water, grinder, brewing, green coffee and coffee shop designs in order to fill the gaps that coffee sector has in Turkey.   Probador Colectiva has established reputable and world-embracing training campus which offers public and on invitation only training and cupping gathering services to coffee professionals and coffee enthusiasts in Turkey and as well as to foreigners. In the lab there are most reputable coffee machines, grinders and equipment in the world besides, two different special water purification systems. Apart from the roasting machines in the roasting room, coffees are sample roasted with IKAWA,  cupped and analysed in the lab.
